What Items Get Recycled in Pearland

Household Recycling (City of Pearland Curbside Service)

The city’s program through Frontier Waste offers single-stream recycling, meaning you can put all accepted recyclables in the same blue cart:

  • ♻️ Paper Products
    • Newspapers, office paper, magazines, junk mail
    • Flattened cardboard and paperboard boxes (like cereal boxes)
  • ♻️ Plastics
    • Bottles, jugs, and containers labeled #1–7
    • Milk jugs, soda bottles, detergent containers
    • Must be empty, clean, and dry
  • ♻️ Metals
    • Aluminum cans (soda, beer)
    • Tin and steel cans (soup, vegetable cans)
  • ♻️ Glass
    • Clear, brown, and green glass bottles and jars

Tip: No plastic bags, Styrofoam, greasy pizza boxes, or food waste—these contaminate recycling loads.

Private Hauler & Specialty Recycling (Bubba’s & Partners)

Bubba’s goes beyond city recycling by handling items that curbside programs reject:

  • 🖥️ Electronics & E-Waste
    • TVs, monitors, laptops, desktops, printers, and cables
    • Cell phones, tablets, and small electronics
  • 🛋️ Furniture for Donation/Recycling
    • Usable items donated to local charities
    • Broken wood furniture recycled for parts when possible
  • Appliances
    • Washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers recycled for metal
    • Refrigerators & freezers (after Freon removal)
  • 🌱 Yard Waste
    • Branches, limbs, and leaves chipped into mulch or composted
  • 🏗️ Construction Materials (select)
    • Scrap metal, wood, drywall, tile, and concrete (when accepted by recycling facilities)

Hazardous Items That Cannot Be Recycled

Neither the city nor private haulers accept hazardous materials in recycling. These must go to the Stella Roberts Recycling Center or a hazardous waste event:

  • Paint, chemicals, oils, and pesticides
  • Car batteries, propane tanks, and fuel containers
  • Medical sharps or biohazards

Why Recycling Matters

  • 🌎 Reduces landfill waste
  • 🏭 Conserves raw materials and energy
  • 💰 Helps charities through donations of usable items
  • ♻️ Keeps hazardous components out of the environment

📞 For pickup of recyclable items the city won’t accept, call Bubba’s at (281) 699-8409 to schedule an eco-friendly junk removal.
